Instructor directions for linking the Soomo webtext to your Moodle course using the VitalSource Partner Integration

Written by Alyssa

To get started linking the webtext to your course in Moodle, follow the steps below. If you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to contact our LMS specialist at lms@soomolearning.com.

Connect the webtext to a copied course

If you copy or import course content that includes webtext chapter links, your new course will automatically be linked. Click any webtext link in your new course to see what’s new, add notes, or manage due dates.

Note: If you are not using the same webtext title this term, you will need to delete the webtext links that were copied and use the linking instructions below for a new course shell.

Connect the webtext to a new course

From your course page, toggle the Edit mode switch in the top right, and then click the + icon to add an activity or resource to one of your topics.

In the search bar, enter “VitalSource LTI 1.3” and select the tool.

Click the Select content button.

Next, click the Open Publisher Tool button.

In the new tab that opens, you’ll see a list of webtexts to choose from that Soomo has prepared for you.

Select the webtext you’d like to link, then select to confirm this webtext for your course.

After choosing your course, click the Save and return to course button.

You’ll now see the deep links to the webtext populate in the Topics section of your Moodle course shell. Both you and your students will be able to access the webtext via these deep links.
