Instructors

Where is the article for LMS admins to use to set up the Soomo Learning tool in Sakai?

To get started linking your course in Sakai to the Soomo webtext, follow the steps below. If you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to contact our LMS specialist at lms@soomolearning.com.

Connect your webtext to the course

Log in to Sakai and access your course. From your course page, click the Site Info tab in the left-hand menu and then click the Manage Tools tab at the top of the screen.

Create assignment link

Navigate to the Assignments item in the left-hand menu and click the Add tab at the top. Enter the title you would like for the webtext—we suggest “Soomo Webtext.” Next, add the assignment instructions—we suggest “Access your webtext here.”

Set the Open Date for the beginning of the term and the Due Date and Accept Until Date for the end of the term.

Scroll down to the Submission Type and select External Tool, check the Load this tool in a new tab box, and click the Select External Tool button.

You may need to select the Soomo Webtext Tool depending on your course’s configuration.

Depending on how the webtext you’re using will be delivered, you’ll see either a list of webtexts to choose from or a list of custom courses that Soomo has prepared for you. Select the course you’d like to link to and then confirm your selection.

If you see a message pop up asking if you’d like to change the assignment title to Soomo Webtext, click OK.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and uncheck Grade this assignment so your grade items will be created separately from this assignment. Click Post to complete the assignment creation.

There will now be a link to the webtext in the left-hand menu of your course as well as in the assignment you created. Both you and your students will be able to access the webtext via these links.
