To get started linking the webtext to your course in Canvas, follow the steps below. If you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to contact our LMS specialist at lms@soomolearning.com.
Connect the webtext to a copied course
If you copy or import course content that includes webtext chapter links, your new course will automatically be linked. Click any webtext link in your new course to see what’s new, add notes, or manage due dates.
Note: If you are not using the same webtext title this term, you will need to delete the webtext links that were copied and use the linking instructions below for a new course shell.
Connect your webtext to the Canvas course
Navigate to the Modules section of your course and click the + icon to add a new item to one of your modules.
In the drop-down menu, select External Tool, then scroll down in the list and select Soomo Learning Webtext Tool LTI 1.3.
If you don’t see the Soomo tool here, you can reach out to your LMS admin to have them install the integration with these instructions.
Click the webtext you’d like to pair, then click it again to confirm.
After completing these steps, the links to the webtext will be generated in the module you used to link to the webtext.
Click the publish icon at the top of the module, then select “Publish module and all items.”
Once you’ve done this, both you and your students will access the webtext through these links. You can rearrange the links in your course however you’d like.
