How students view notifications in the webtext

Students receive notifications whenever you leave feedback on their webtext work. You can also check whether students have seen your comments.

How students view notifications in the webtext

When students have a new notification, they’ll see a red dot in the Notifications panel in the upper right corner of the webtext. They can click “Notifications” to expand the panel. This will show them a list of any feedback their instructor may have left them.

Instructors may leave feedback on student work in the webtext. Instructors can

  • comment on short-answer, response-board, or writing-template responses,

  • unpost or reset responses, and

  • pin response-board answers to the top of the list.

  • adjust due dates using our due date manager tool.

For any instructor feedback, students will receive both an email notification and a webtext notification. These notifications will provide students with a link to open their webtext, where they can check the notifications panel for updates.

Students can click on any notification to navigate to the specific short-answer question, response board, or writing template where their instructor left feedback. They can then click “View comment” to read what their instructor has written.

How instructors can tell whether students have seen comments

In Analytics, comments will be marked as “unseen” until the student clicks “View comment.”
