With Study Stack, students engage in active recall to practice webtext content and strengthen their understanding of the material. Study Stack offers a low-stakes environment where students can answer and reset multiple-choice questions without affecting their webtext points.
Encourage your students to use Study Stack to review key concepts before exams and class discussions, and to continue their review throughout the semester. This spaced practice can help them remember the information so that they can access it when they need it.
Note: Study Stack is currently available in select webtexts.
Opening Study Stack
In a browser
In a web or mobile browser, students can access Study Stack through the Tools Menu in the upper-right corner of their webtext.
They’ll also find links to Study Stack beneath multiple-choice questions students have completed and at the bottom of pages where at least one multiple-choice question has been completed.
In the Soomo Reader app
If students are using the Soomo app, they can tap the Settings (☰) button in the upper-right corner and then select Study Stack.
Using Study Stack
As students complete questions in the webtext, the questions are added to Study Stack to practice with later. A question is considered complete if the student has answered it correctly or if they’ve answered it incorrectly and can no longer reset the question.
Select a chapter
In Study Stack, students use the drop-down menu at the top of the page to choose a chapter to study from or select All Chapters. They then click the Generate My Study Stack button, which creates a set of questions based on the chapter or chapters they selected.
Answer questions
After students answer a question, they’ll see a rejoinder letting them know if they’ve answered the question correctly and why the selected answer is correct or incorrect. The rejoinder includes a link back to the webtext page where they first answered the question in case they’d like to review the supporting instructional material again.
Study Stack offers students all of the different versions of the question so they can practice recalling concepts in response to different prompts. This means that even if they get the question right the first time, they can continue practicing with other versions of that question. This repeated exposure to the course material reinforces concepts and contributes to better retention and comprehension.
Review and retry
Students get unlimited attempts within Study Stack regardless of any question reset limits within the webtext. This allows them to make mistakes, learn from them, and build confidence with the content. They can also use the links in the rejoinders to revisit the related webtext page and review the material as they continue practicing.
